Chrissy Metz, a key ensemble player in NBC’s popular series This Is Us, will make her stage debut this spring in a Geffen Playhouse revival of Neil LaBute’s disturbing 2004 drama Fat Pig.

The production will replace LaBute’s The Way We Get By, with preview performances beginning May 16 and opening night May 23. The production closes Sunday, June 24. Additional casting will be announced.
The play follows what happens when a young man falls in love with a smart, sexy, beautiful woman who also happens to be big, much to the amusement, and then chagrin, of his snobby social circle. Originally presented by New York’s MCC Theatre, Fat Pig was seen at the Geffen in 2007. The new production, with a revised script and a new ending, was unveiled last March, when Metz appeared in MCC’s one-night-only benefit reading under LaBute’s direction.
