The comedian Amy Schumer is planning to make her Broadway debut this fall in a new play by Steve Martin.
Ms. Schumer will star in Meteor Shower, a marital comedy about two couples who get together for an evening of stargazing and sparring in an Ojai, Calif., backyard in 1993. Joining her in the cast will be Laura Benanti (a Tony winner for Gypsy), Keegan-Michael Key (now performing in Hamlet at the Public Theater) and Alan Tudyk (Firefly).
The new play by Steve Martin is set to begin previews Nov. 1.

The play had productions last year at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, and is now being reworked for Broadway.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am,” Mr. Martin said. “I’ve been working on this for over 20 years — I wrote it in the ’90s, when it is set, but I didn’t finish it, I got distracted, and then it came back to me a couple of years ago.”
