I love collaborations. I was thrilled when Stage Rights contacted me with their awesome idea to create a blog where theatre people doing theatre people stuff could contribute and learn and share. A fabulous colleague at AACT recently made this great point about how important it is to take the time to share (information). That's it -taking the time. Take the time to read a blog (like Stage Writes!). Take the time to be part of a larger group of people or organizations.

The weeks of rehearsal, the actor homework you struggled over, that moment in the show when everything kicked up a notch like it never had, then you glanced over and saw: me. Sleepy McBlondie, with my head tilting to one side and my eyes shut tight. Now it’s all ruined and you want to give up the acting thing forever because man the show was good that night except for that one damn guy with the ultimate critique of closed eyelids.
Carlyss Peer will play Rita Hanson alongside the previously announced Andy Karl. The previously announced world premiere of the Broadway-bound Groundhog Day, a new musical with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and book by Danny Rubin (who co-scripted the 1993 film of the same name with Harold Ramis), has confirmed full casting for the production, which will begin performances July 11 prior to an official opening August 16 at the Old Vic, for a run through September 17.
