New York City Opera will present the U.S. premiere of Charles Wuorinen’s operatic adaptation of Brokeback Mountain as part of its new season. Performances will run May 31 and June 2–4, 2018, at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater.
The opera, based on the 2005 Ang Lee film of the same name, made its world premiere in 2014 at Madrid’s Teatro Real; it was originally commissioned by NYCO in 2008 before the company shut down in 2013.
