The 2017 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival Finds Its Judges

The nation’s premiere short play competition has announced the panel that will choose six winners from 30 finalists.

This year’s 42nd Annual Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival—the nation’s premiere short playwrighting competition—runs August 8–12 and features plays and musicals from 30 finalists. Come August 12, six winning pieces will be chosen for licensing and publication.

The publishing organization announced today the panel of 12 playwrights, artistic directors, and industry leaders who will select this year’s winners: playwrights Jiehai Park, James Hindman, Lauren Yee, and Rachel Bonds (Sundown Yellow Moon); artistic directors Andrew Leynse (Primary Stages), Jonathan Silverstein (Keen Company), Susan Westfall (City Theatre, Miami), Emily Morse (New Dramatists), and Ciera Iverson (National Alliance of Musical Theatres); and industry leaders John Clinton Eisner (The Lark), Michael Walkup (Page 73), and Abigail Katz (Atlantic Theater Company).
